FUSION JAZZ is NOT jazz

so i'm no expert on music genres and all that jazz. but when i read that "tablacadabra" was going to play at Avanti in sunway hotel, i just KNEW that it wasn't going to be my usual frank sinatra / miles davis / coltrane style jazz.

so i was there for a family dinner, n half way thru they start playing kitaro. argh. nothing agaisnt kitaro, but seriously, thats not jazz.  n then later there is some very tribal music which again, falls under the category of FUSION jazz. bleargh.

don't get me wrong, the performance was fine, the performers looked like they were having a good time n enjoying themselves, n they might have fit perfectly at a tribal music fest but to proclaim themselves jazz players is in my puny opinion, inaccurate.

so nway my conclusion: fusion jazz is rojak. just like how fusion restaurants sell bits n pieces of just like, EVERYTHING.

nothing particularly bimbo bout this post (or so i think!). havent had any bimbo-inspiration in awhile.
